Watching the anti-Israel protests raging on campuses across the country reveals the demonic nature of the hatred of the Jewish people and their control of the land that God has given them. It also reveals how easily the entire world can believe a lie, and then turn on any group and hate them. Jesus reminds us that this is what we are destined to face prior to His return…
“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another.
Matthew 24:9-10
Revelation chapter 12 reveals how believers handle this coming persecution…
“And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.”
Revelation 12:11
I love this verse because it shows us how to overcome and be victorious in the face of hatred, persecution, violence, and even death. While most of us claiming to be believers have embraced the first part: receiving the forgiveness that Jesus offers us through His blood sacrifice on the cross. Many of us are not actively sharing our testimony, much less prepared to share it.
Our testimony is the single most powerful way God has given us to share the Gospel, and only we can use it to the fullest. I challenge you to prepare a short 2-minute version of your testimony. Try writing briefly about these three parts: 1) What your life was like prior to meeting Christ. 2) How you came to know Christ, and 3) What your life has been like since you met Christ. Practice sharing it. Memorize it. Obey what the Lord encourages us to do in 1Peter3…
…always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect…
1Peter 3:15
Even so, come Lord Jesus!
